My Okuma reel is on it's way, a reel that the big companies did not carry, but Russell found it no problem. If he does not carry it, you don't need it! I was then given information and links to similar products to choose from.   15. Russell took great care of me, I thought I knew what I wanted until I we talked and it became clear to me that what I ordered wasn't what I needed (or wanted). I'm not new to deep-sea fishing but a little green when it comes to buying equipment. Russell listened to me and made a couple suggestions which I'm glad he did because otherwise I woud just have a nice looking rod and reel that I couldn't really use hanging on the wall. Now I have a setup that I can absolutely use - plus it looks nice on the wall. OH, and MyFishGear.com prices were as low as I could find anywhere, combine that with personal customer service... wow!   21. Bought a Penn 760L reel from this company. Made it here in time for Christmas. I had called to see if there was another reel I could get and could not get anyone on the phone line. Russ called me back later that evening. How can you beat that. The owner of the business calling you back. That is excellent customer service that you won't find in the large chain stores. MyFishgear.com actually had the better price, including the shipping.

  24. I recently went on a fishing safari on Martha's Vineyard and it reawakened my love of fishing. I grew up fishing with my Father on the brackish Indian River in St. Lucie Fla. and on various lakes in Georgia. I had never been saltwater fishing and because my previous fishing equipment had been a bamboo pole and later a Zebco rod and reel I bought with top value stamps , I was starting out with zero knowledge. I did major research via google and ended up on myfishgear.com. I found what I wanted but was vacillating on taking the plunge or not when Russell called me to ask if I had trouble on the site. He suggested since I was going to be fishing in Brooklyn and taking subways or buses I should get a two piece Fenwick rod instead of the one piece I was looking at. Great advice. He didn't try to get me to buy anything else (although I did find the tackle box I wanted here ) and was in no way condescending about my lack of knowledge on the subject of saltwater fishing. Instead he encouraged me to follow my instincts and go fishing. I corresponded with Russell several times during my transaction and he always got back to me promptly and with the same friendly manner. As a woman fishing in Brooklyn I need all the encouragement I can get, and I feel fortunate to have stumbled upon Russell's shop in the beginning of my journey back to fishing.

I once thought that great customer service was a thing of the past until I stumbled upon myfishgear.com while looking for the discontinued line of Tech Tackle miniature rods and reels.  I was immediately greeted by Russell Peterson, the owner of myfishgear.com, with a warm, friendly voice as if he'd known me for years.  Mr. Peterson was very knowledgeable about my product inquiry and said that he only had two of the Fin-Nor 103's left from the line.  During our conversation Mr. Peterson mentioned that his wife had broken his Fin-Nor when she dropped it by accident.  Despite his having several from the line in his personal collection and the broken Fin-Nor, he agreed to sell me both of the new ones when he could easily have kept one for himself as a replacement for the broken one he has in his office.  He seemed genuinely happy to be of service and to try and find whatever else I needed from the line of miniature rod and reels.  He even told me about a filet glove that he said would make a nice gift for any avid fisherman so I bought one for my Dad.....I'm sure he'll love it!  Anyway, I just want to thank Mr. Peterson for his kind and generous nature in proving that indeed customer service is still very much alive.  It was a pleasure doing business with myfishgear.com and I hope to make more purchases in the near future.  I would highly recommend this site and Mr. Peterson to my best friend and any of my family members.  The level of service is unequaled and I give Mr. Peterson 10 stars out of a possible 5!!!

  27. In Finland the color of this bag is just impossible to find. This bag is great for my needs and it's the right size for my boat.
